The
seagate scsi drive is not detected any more. A bus scan through the adapter
bios doesn't see the disk. It did not make any warning noises. I believe it
is a firmware failure. I would like to understand the process.
Can the disk be saved and re-used? What method is utilized if it is a
firmware malfunction? |
If the SCSI interface isn't working any more, you can't update the
firmware without special equipment. You only can try to change the
complete SCSI controller. Because parts of the firmware may be stored on
disk media, it should be an identical controller from another disk (same
model, ideally with same firmware version).
