Default I only want to catch my neighbors' dog crapping on my lawn..... - 04-24-2007 , 11:06 AM

Hello,

I have a Philips SPC 900NC camera set up to monitor my backyard. I'm
using the Vlounge software that came with it and have had numerous
problems with it shutting down and generally acting like a piece of
garbage software - which it is. I've Googled for an alternative program
but want to try to sift through all the crap and buy something
worthwhile and reliable the first time. I'd like to get some opinions on
what program to buy and this group looks like it's filled with
knowledgable people. I only want to monitor motion in my backyard
without the errors and shutdowns I get with Vlounge. Any info would be
appreciated.

BTW, the Philips cam is exceptional - very nice picture, it sets up
fairly easily and works with Linux.

TIA,
HJS

Sounds like you need a ballista, press button or
use a PIR, mutt returned to it own garden.

I've written 2 bits of software myself which you might find useful -
Mugshot, a surveillance app

http://www.nimisis.com/projects/mugshot.php

and Flix, a timelapse program

Hope that helps in some way

Dave
