Default A/V setup on D-Link cam - 12-23-2005 , 01:55 PM

I've got a D-Link DCS-6620G webcam which I would like to be able to talk
back and forth to someone in the vicinity of the cam from a remote location
over the internet. According to their website description, this is possible
by plugging a speaker into it and using the mike built into the cam or
external mike if you prefer. I have tried plugging both powered and
unpowered speakers into the "A/V out" jack which they say is used to connect
to a TV or VCR. When I plug the speaker in, the video disappears so I assume
this must be video out only? Only other connector is an I/O port for
connecting motion detectors and such. A call to tech support got me an
oriental female who was absolutely no help at all. Anyone have any idea how
to connect a speaker so I can talk to someone on the camera end?

Should be a single audio out that requires powered pc type speaker(s) ,,,
not the a/v out.
Make sure your cams internal setting is checked to use internal mic before
plugging in the remote speaker, although some speakers make nice mic's too.

Thanks for your response bumtracks. Got it figured out. Used the A/V out
jack but had to use the A/V cable that I totally forgot about and was still
in the box. It had a single RCA plug that split into a yellow(video) and
white(audio) connector. Hooked the white to a powered speaker and all is
well.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone in webcam land!!
